Community Service

Throughout the school year the Nu Chapter of Lambda Theta Nu Sorority Inc. works hard to plan two major events; TIJERAS and SPRING FEST. TIJERAS is a national community service event that Lambda Theta Nu Sorority Inc. has been hosting since 1986. We organize a Latina Leadership conference which targets middle school girls in order to promote a higher education for Latina women. The conference includes College Admission and Financial aid information, as well as workshops that enhance self-esteem and confidence. Our second major event is Spring Fest, which is a spring carnival that provides the children of Isla Vista with the opportunity to participate in games and fun activities free of charge. We invite several other organizations to participate in this event and each year it brings smiles to the faces of many children. Aside from these two major events the Nu Chapter of Lambda Theta Nu Sorority Inc. is also involved in a variety of smaller events throughout the year. Individual sisters are also encouraged to volunteer on their own on a regular basis.
